We Need Your Help!

Our project needs input from mature job seekers to collect the perspectives, stories and insights that we need to create effective recommendations. Participating can be done safely and easily via video conferencing, and only takes about 30 minutes. In exchange, participants will receive a giftcard from a local retailer.

Our Goal

We Work to Promote the Value of the Mature Worker

Our goal is to consult with mature job seekers, entrepreneurs, service providers, community stakeholders and employers to come up with innovate ways to promote the skills, experience and value of mature job seekers.

Many job mature job seekers face barriers such as ageism in the labour market. The Longevity Economy aims to change this, and to to highlight the value that experienced workers can provide.

Over 55

Thank you for your interest in our project.  Since 1986 we have supported entrepreneurs age 55+ in London and area. Now, we want to better understand the barriers that mature job seekers face, and how to support both them and their employers.

This project would not be possible without the support of Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development through a Labour Market Partnership.

Why Mature Workers?

Research also shows that older workers have a strong desire to remain relevant through continuous learning and making use of their abilities, even as they approach retirement. Many older workers want to leave an organization knowing they have made a difference.

In a knowledge economy, the payback period on investment in training is becoming shorter for all workers, meaning that spending money on training older workers is likely to be recovered before those workers retire.”
